Biography
A native to southern Illinois, Nolen attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and received both his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering, both with an emphasis in structural engineering.
After college, Nolen gained experience working for structural engineering consulting firms in Illinois, Indiana, and North Carolina, specializing in the design and analysis of building and non-building type structures. During his time at these firms, he gained extensive and valuable experience in design, analysis, and investigation for structures of all types.
With over a decade of experience, licenses in multiple states, and a Model Law Structural Engineer designation from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), Nolen has designed building and non-building components in numerous locations across the United States. His portfolio includes structural design and analysis of commercial and municipal buildings, schools, hospitals, churches, multi-family housing, office buildings, and industrial structures. Nolen has extensive design experience with concrete, masonry, steel, and wood structures in high seismic zones and has performed structural evaluations and analyses of various existing structures including nuclear facilities, aircraft hangers, and industrial warehouses.
Away from work, Nolen enjoys spending time with his wife Angela and their two children, Keira and Brayden. Nolen loves attending church and serving others. He loves to cook and dabbling in woodworking. In the colder months, he can usually be found watching football or outside next to a fire with a craft beer or glass of wine.
